2023: ADC Holds it’s maiden Youth Hangout

According to a press statement issued on  Friday, 12th March, 2021, by the Party’s Director of Communications and Programs, Barr. Ifenla Oligbinde, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has organized a Youth Hangout in Abuja.

Ifenla said that the gesture was to encourage Nigerian Youths in a beat to run for political offices as well as inform them that the ADC remains the party that is opened to youths, women and people with disabilities, as according to her, the ADC DNA is about open door policy, transparency, accountability and responsible leadership.

On her part, the Program Director, YIAGA Africa of #NotTooYoungToRun who also doubles as the guest speaker of the event, Cynthia Mbamalu,  called on  the Nigerian Youths to arise, as power is not taken and Youth must not think they can plead or beg the powers that be to release leadership reigns for them.

While observing that politicians focus on weaknesses in the system to manipulate election outcome, she however Called on the Independent National Electoral CommissionI (NEC) to intensify efforts to increase polling units after 25 years.

“I think the first part in the plan is the beginning of this conversation now for a country with a projected population of 200 million persons in 2020. The last time this exercise was done was in 1996 when the country was over a hundred million and the voting population was about 50 million. So what we are dealing with is a long-time challenge that has existed over time and will give credibility and access to the system.” She noted.

Cynthia commended the party on its efforts in putting together a unique program especially at the time when people are looking for a 3rd force party where others have failed, as She encouraged the party leaders and pleaded that they don’t relent in their quest to bringing more youths onboard.

The National Chairman of the party, Chief Ralphs Nwosu who spoke through zoom noted that the party will implement all suggestions and contributions made, adding  that ADC as a party will inform the participants and interested youths of future projects.

The event was also viewed live on zoom and it had several participants, both youths and people above the youth range.
