Member representing Ojo Federal Constituency of Lagos State in the National Assembly, Hon. Tajudeen Adekunle Obasa has been charged to move education forward in Nigeria.
The President, Technological University of the Americas (TUA), Prof Hubert Rampersad, PhD, gave the charge during the university’s Convocation and Award Ceremony for the Doctorate held in Abuja on Saturday.
The university which was founded in 2012, confered an award of Honourary Doctorate Degree (PhD) in Political Leadership among other students with other students.

He further noted that the University is seeking to raise quality and standards in academic achievement in order serve as catalyst for the development of education in Nigeria
On his part, the Vice Chancellor of the Technological University of the Americas, Prof. Satish Visavadia, task the awardee to contribute to the socio economic development in his constituency and Nigeria at large.
“In Africa, higher education is perceived as a key to the comprehensive development of the continent in many areas.
“In line with this perception, various governments have initiated several policies and models in attempting to build quality higher education for the developing Africa’s human capital to positively contribute to the global challenges”, he stated.
In a related development, the Vice President of Suriname, His Excellency Ronnie Brunswijk bagged the West Africa Diaspora Distinguished Leadership award 2021.
Hon. Obasa, while receiving the award on his behalf, expressed satisfactions with the humanitarian aid provides to the poor in Suriname and the contribution he makes to the educational development of the diaspora community from West Africa.
“He is not only a role model for many Surinamese but also many West Africans.
“Mr. Brunswijk has shown us what empathic leadership really mean. The world needs more leaders like him. Leaders who care and share, leaders who know their social responsibility, and act as a role model”, He noted.
Meanwhile, while reacting to how a child was recently bullied to death in one of the secondary schools in Lagos by some students where the school authority denied claims, Obasa called on the parents to monitor their wards by knowing the kind of company they keep and question when necessary.
According to him, ” Most of these things started from home, you as a mother your child is joinning a company and you don’t know the kind of company he or she joins, everything remains in the hands of every citizen this country.
Going forward; the Honourable member advised citizens to consolidate on the good character they are known for, as for him, they should not change their character even when acquired a key position.
