Nigeria experienced yet another historic event in its history as the Chief of Army Staff bows down of office handing over to the Major General Ibrahim Attahiru as the new Chief of Army Staff.
The handing over which took place at the Nigerian Army Headquarters had in attendance top military officers.
Delivering his speech,Major General Tukur Buratai said he would have retired 21 years ago and that it is only a miracle that he got back and was even appointed Chief of Army Staff.
Buratai thanked Almighty Allah for a successful retirement and could not leave without appreciating His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari for believing in him and allowing him top his career and also pointed out that he is always open for advice and consultations.
He also appreciated Special troop forces: ,operation lafiya dole,crocodile smile ,safe Haven for their relentlessness in the fight against insurgency in the country noting that their labour is greatly noted.
The outgone Chief of Army Staff then pointed out three key areas he would want to be remembered for as being remembered for improved milliary professionalism during his tenure,Responsiveness in training and logistics and responsiveness to Nigerian Democratic practices.
The handing over ceremony included the signing of handover documents as well as the Nigerian Army flag.
In his address, the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Major General Ibrahim Attahiru appreciated the outgone Chief for his resilient and hardwork towards maintainance of peace in the country, as he promised to continue with the legacy left for a peaceful Nigeria.
The handing over came to a close with the lining of officers for a final salute and farewell at the quarter guard.
